Susan & Eoin | Cloughjordan House | Pawel Bebenca Photography
Susan and Eoin had a Midsummer Night's Dream in mind for their June wedding, and working with them was a true and absolute joy - they are both incredibly lovely, their chosen venue is one of my favourites, their vision was genuinely exciting, and after the initial brief they just trusted me to run with all the ideas.
In Northern Europe, especially Latvia (where I'm from), Midsummer or the Summer Solstice is a very special holiday. We all leave the cities for the countryside, we make flower crowns, we dance and sing traditional songs around a bonfire while awaiting the sunrise. It's a truly magical night, rich with pagan traditions and rituals to bring one happiness, fertility and wealth. Having met Susan and Eoin, I wanted to create some of that magical, ethereal fairy tale feel for their wedding, and I was so lucky to have their full trust to bring this idea to life.
I designed delicate wildflower centerpieces resembling a mysterious meadow on a midsummer's night. A foraged foliage garland adorned with fairy lights created a feel of a forest under a romantic starry sky. The couple has the most enviable vintage furniture and prop collection, and, naturally, we incorporated some of it in their wedding design - the beautiful ceremony chairs and table, vintage typewriter, cameras, and a ladder that made for a fantastic focal point for their cheese cake table.
Needless to say I was overwhelmed to receive this wonderful thank you note shortly after the wedding (thanks so much Susan!!!):
It's hard to find the words to write this e-mail because what you created for us down in Cloughjordan was way beyond anything Eoin and I could have imagined!! From the ceremony space, to the ballroom, to the incredible centerpieces, place settings and ceiling installation you literally made empty spaces magical!! You read my mind perfectly as regards what I wanted and I can tell you that is not an easy job :D.....
Your dedication, creativity and attention to detail really shone through even last minute, off the cuff creations, like the ladder by the cake stands and the foliage over the fireplace looked incredible! You are just unbelievably talented, anyone I spoke to on the day commented on how beautiful the spaces were and that was 100% down to your hard work.
There literally was not one element of your amazing work I would have changed and that's saying a lot because as my dad pointed out in his speech I can be a bit of a perfectionist at times :D.
Thanks again for everything and be sure to pass on our thanks to Liene (hopefully I've spelt that right :D).
All the best,
